The 27th International AFRILEX Conference in Bloemfontein was a resounding success.

This was a landmark conference as it was co-located with the ISPN Symposium and it was the first to be hosted by a department on Sign Language and Deaf Studies. It was the first conference to successfully employ SASL interpreters.

 AFRILEX also integrated the AS Hornby Dictionary Research Awards winners into the programme.
